The Gift of Gratitude: Praising God in Every Season

The Gift of Gratitude: Praising God in Every Season

Scripture: "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Reflection: Gratitude is easy when life is good. But Paul doesn't say give thanks for all circumstances — he says give thanks in them. That's a profound distinction.

Giving thanks in difficulty doesn't mean pretending everything is fine. It means choosing to acknowledge God's presence and faithfulness even when your situation is hard. It's an act of trust — a declaration that God is still good even when life doesn't feel that way.

Gratitude shifts our focus from what is missing to what remains. And what always remains is God — His love, His promises, and His presence.

Application:

  • Start a daily gratitude practice: write down 3 things you're thankful for each morning
  • When something frustrates you today, pause and find one thing to thank God for in that moment

Prayer: God, teach me to be a person of gratitude — not just when life is easy, but in every season. Help me to see Your hand at work even in the hard moments, and to praise You for who You are, not just what You do. Amen.

Closing: A new devotional is shared each week — come back next Sunday or join the email list to receive it first. Last week we explored Rooted and Unshakeable: Standing Firm in Your Faith .
