You Are Not Your Past: God's Grace Makes You New

Scripture: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Reflection: Many of us carry the weight of our past like a backpack we can't take off — old mistakes, old labels, old versions of ourselves that we're afraid define us forever. But 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares something radical: in Christ, the old is gone.

Not buried. Not suppressed. Gone.

God doesn't renovate you — He makes you new. Your past is not a life sentence; it's a chapter that has already been redeemed. The person you were before Christ does not have authority over the person God is making you into.

You are not your worst moment. You are who God says you are.

Application:

• Write a letter to your past self — acknowledge the pain, then declare the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:17 over it
• Speak this affirmation daily: "I am a new creation. The old has gone."

Prayer: Father, thank You that my past does not define my future. Thank You for the grace that makes me new. Help me to walk in the freedom of who You say I am, and to stop letting old shame have a voice in my new life. Amen.
